FAQ's

How long does delivery take?

Delivery to mainland UK typically takes 1–7 working days, depending on the product, brand, and delivery option (e.g., standard or White Glove Delivery). Specific details are available on each product page.

Occasional delays may occur due to factors beyond our control. While we aim to meet estimated timelines, exact delivery dates and times cannot be guaranteed.

Once your order is dispatched, tracking details will be provided so you can monitor its status.

Will I need to assemble my e-bike or e-scooter?

Your e-bike will arrive around 85% assembled, with parts like handlebars, saddle, pedals, and the front wheel requiring attachment. Instructions are included for easy assembly.

For a small additional charge, our White Glove Delivery service ensures your e-bike is delivered fully assembled by a professional mechanic, needing only minor adjustments upon arrival. Check the product page to select this option.

Assembly requirements may vary, so refer to the 'Assembly & Delivery' tab on the product page for specifics.

What should I do when I receive my bike?

Upon delivery, inspect your item for any damage, even if you don't plan to use it immediately. If the item is damaged:

  • Reject the delivery, or
  • Sign for it as damaged and email details with photos to orders@chilledrides.co.uk within 3 working days.

To set up your bike:

  1. Unbox and remove protective packaging, keeping all materials intact.
  2. Adjust and tighten the handlebars.
  3. Attach and secure the unfitted pedal.
  4. Adjust the saddle height for comfort.
  5. Ensure all bolts are tight.
  6. Fully charge the battery before your first ride.

For folding e-bikes, follow the same steps after unpacking the folded bike. If you need assistance, local bike shop services may be available for an additional charge.

Do I need a licence to ride an electric bike?

No licence, registration, or tax is required for e-bikes in the UK, provided they meet EAPC criteria:

  • Pedals are present for propulsion.
  • The motor assists up to 25 km/h (15.5 mph) and doesn’t exceed 250W.

Non-compliant e-bikes are treated as motor vehicles and require registration, insurance, a licence, and a helmet.

Should I wear a helmet?

While not legally required, we strongly recommend wearing a helmet to reduce the risk of injury.

Are e-bikes safe?

Yes, e-bikes are as safe as regular bicycles and offer added benefits. Pedal assist reduces fatigue, enhancing alertness. Quick acceleration and hill-climbing capabilities improve safety in traffic and challenging terrains.

Can e-bikes be taken on trains?

  • They are standard-sized bikes (not oversized like tandems).
  • They comply with road-legal standards (250W motor, max 15.5 mph).
  • They are not charged onboard.

Folding e-bikes are accepted on all trains anytime, while peak times may restrict full-sized bikes. Some operators require reservations.

Are e-bike battery fires a concern?

Battery fires are rare and often due to tampering, incorrect charging, or aftermarket batteries. Always follow manufacturer guidelines for safe use.

Do you deliver outside the UK?

No, we deliver only within the UK to ensure fast delivery and low costs.

Are your e-bikes suitable for all ages?

Our e-bikes meet EAPC regulations, making them suitable for riders aged 14 and over. We offer models for various needs, from casual rides to off-road adventures.

How do I charge my e-bike battery?

Simply plug the included charger into a standard outlet and connect it to the battery. Wait until fully charged before use.
